About – 2D.Pete

I’m a 3D artist and brand designer, and I got into 3D through branding, not visual effects or CGI.

I'm Peter Sunna — Swedish-born, based in New Canaan, Connecticut, by way of Lausanne, Switzerland, where I first got into 3D. I work in 3D, motion, and type under the name 2D.Pete. Before this became my primary practice, I spent 20-plus years as a graphic designer and creative director across global agencies, independent studios, and my own branding practice in Stockholm, London, and New York.

Coming from branding, I start with what the work needs to say and how it fits the system. The 3D comes after. I like the pull between structure and abstraction, and a lot of my work starts with typography.

I often work with agencies and brand teams who want a designer in the conversation from the start. I'm equally comfortable inside a tight brand system or on a blank page.

I still haven't decided whether I'm a brand designer who works in 3D or a 3D artist who thinks like a brand designer. I'm at home in both worlds.
